The Medical Education Colloquium is an annual event introduced by the International Medical University (IMU) in 2004 to promote exchange of experience between medical educators in the Region and beyond. The themes of the previous Colloquia were: Educating Tomorrow’s Health Professionals (2004); Distributed Learning: A Paradigm Shift in Medical Education (2005) and Why Quality Assurance? (2006).
IMU celebrated its fifteenth anniversary through many exciting events spread throughout 2007; amongst which was the International Medical Education Conference 2007 (IMEC-2007), which was very well–received. IMU enjoys the unique advantage of having the Deans of its 27 partner medical schools (PMS) gather annually for the Academic Council. The IMEC-2007 was greatly enhanced by the participation of many of these Deans, giving a chance for participants to exchange ideas and experiences with them. This is in line with IMU’s policy of knowledge-sharing.
Following on the success of IMEC-2007, it was decided
that the Medical Education Colloquia be replaced by
annual IMECs, to coincide with the Academic Council.
The IMEC-2008 is planned for March 2008.
