IMU Student Club & Societies

The International Medical University (IMU) supports an atmosphere where students can openly share ideas, interests, and concerns. Through involvement with co-curricular activities and attendance at programs organized by student groups, students can develop their skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in regards to ethics, communications, management, vision and aesthetics, as well as find opportunities to confront and discuss ideas that may be new to them. Involvement in co-curricular activities plays an important and complementary role to learning in the classroom and the University strongly supports student creation of and involvement in organizations.

As such, Student Services Department is responsible department for all extracurricular activities organized or participates by IMU students. Most of students’ participation in extra curriculum activities is through club or student societies. All clubs and societies are divided into three different divisions which are:

Throughout the year, expect to hear about competitions such as the Futsal Tournament and Chess Competitions. You can even join the weekly practice sessions in whatever sports that interest you. There are also various intervarsity sports competitions year-round that you may participate in, such as the Medics InterVarsity Games better known as MIVG, which encompass many sports such as track and field, volleyball, badminton, and frisbee.

Our inter-house sports competition, better known as IMU Cup, is a much-anticipated and hotly competed annual event. Once enrolled, you will be assigned to one of six different houses. Throughout the year, be prepared, as houses will compete and engage with each other through a wide variety of competitions, ranging from intellectual stimulation like scrabble and debate to physical ventures such as football and badminton. Each house will receive points from their respective winnings and the house with the highest points will be declared the winner and receives a trophy as well as the prestige of being IMU Cup Champions.

IMU Chariofare originated from the idea of running for a cause and aims to raise funds to support the university’s charity partners, so they can focus on what they do best – serving and caring for the less fortunate. IMU has organised a series of community-directed activities under the banner of “IMU Cares” since 2001.

After so many years, IMU Chariofare remains the biggest and longest-running flagship project in IMU with the carnival and run being one of the highlights for staff’s and students’ experience in IMU each year.
