  • Facilitate learning and carry out research activities in the IMU.
  • Teach academic subjects to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, tutorials, problem solving learning, practical laboratory demonstrations, field work and e-learning. Multimedia technologies are increasingly used.
  • Involved in academic management work as and when required by the Head of Department.
  • Pursue own areas of research and develop these in order to contribute to the wider research activities of the department.

Biomedical Science

Candidates are expected to have a first degree and a doctoral level qualification in Biochemistry/Biomedical Science or other related science discipline. Candidates must also have an established record of research with evidence of publications. Chiropractic Clinical Supervisors (Part-time)

Chiropractic Clinical Supervisors (Part-time)

Candidates must have a first professional degree in Chiropractic from a CCE, CCEA, ECCE or FCC accredited programme and have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience. Clinic sessions for part-time clinicians are typically 6 hours in duration and one or more sessions per week may be available. IMU chiropractic clinical sessions are divided into morning and afternoon shifts from Monday through Saturday.

Duties include supervising senior chiropractic students as they provide chiropractic care for patients in one of IMU Healthcare’s Chiropractic Centres, which includes providing oversight of students’ clinical documentation, tracking their progress, and submitting timely reports when required.

Diabetes Management

  1. Candidate with a master degree in Nursing, Pharmacy or Dietetic, PhD preferred.
  2. Possess post graduate Diabetes management and Education training OR currently accredited as Credentialed Diabetes Educator or Certified Diabetes Educator by a recognized Diabetes Educator Association or Society.
  3. Minimum of five years clinical diabetes experience.

IMU Centre for Education (ICE)

Senior lecturer/Associate professor

IMU Centre for Education is one of the IMU resource centres devoted to advancing university pedagogy through postgraduate training of academic staff and maintain high standards of competency and educational integrity through continuous faculty development as well as dissemination of information and knowledge to national and international partners.

We seek a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor with background in the health professions and interest in curriculum and faculty development, quality assurance, and research in health professions education. The incumbent will contribute to continuing medical education for IMU staff with a strong relationship to IMU schools inspiring and supporting deeper understanding of teaching and learning for faculty development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, development and oversight of scientific educational content for accounts across a range of areas in health professions education at the university including assessment and evaluation. The School of Postgraduate Studies has launched a certificate, diploma and master programme in Health Professions Education. The successful candidate must be able to engage and empower the development and delivery of these programmes.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience designing and implementing educational training material for faculty development in higher education. Essential skills include teamwork, creative problem solving and the ability to work within the university’s systems.

The successful candidate needs to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, psychology, human biology, nutrition, pharmacy or any medical health or social related major.
  • Postgraduate Diploma, Master or PhD degree in Health Professions Education and/or experience in teaching postgraduate health professions education, with documented effectiveness as teacher and/or mentor.
  • Administrative/managerial skills
  • Information and Communication Technology skills.
  • Proficiency in English language: reading, writing and listening

Translational Science Fellowship - Healthcare Data Science and Informatics

The Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (IRDI) at the International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia invites applications for a unique postdoctoral research fellowship position in the area of population health and health data analytics.

The ideal candidate is an independent, solution-oriented thinker with a strong background in biostatistics/epidemiology, machine learning, data mining, applying analytical rigor and discovering actionable insights and novel solutions to inform population health and health systems policy and practice. A special emphasis will be on the exploration and analysis of linked longitudinal health data for epidemiological, diagnostic, and predictive applications focusing on cancer, diabetes, obesity, infectious diseases and other high-burden health conditions.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the candidate will have an opportunity to thrive and a place to engage in meaningful work that makes a positive impact on the lives of many. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Statistical/spatial analysis and problem-solving using population and administrative health data to identify key diagnostic and predictive insights.
  • Using machine learning and data mining principles to discover temporal and spatial trends and patterns, and support the development of algorithms to validate existing assumptions and processes.
  • Engage and interact with a range of health stakeholders across the region, including Government, scientists, clinicians and regional health authorities as well as industrial stakeholders.
  • Leading the dissemination of novel findings through scientific articles, presentations and research proposals.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Medical/Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Demography, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with data science tools (e.g., R, ArcGIS, Python, SAS, Tableau and etc) and experience working with large-scale datasets.
  • Experience in machine learning, statistics, inference algorithms, big data analytics, data/information mining and visualization, and health research.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, as illustrated by a strong publication/presentation record.
  • A willingness and ability to develop and lead new collaborations is essential.

Appointment and Funding

In addition to a competitive salary package, the postdoctoral fellow will also be provided with a research grant of RM 50,000 that can be used for computing equipment, and/or other research-related costs.
