“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

Welcome to our Self-Help Resources. Below is a compilation of links and useful information to help students face the challenges of university life. Every so often, universities focus on equipping students with the intellectual knowledge and industrial skills necessary for the workforce. However, soft skills and emotional intelligence are only given a small percentage. Yet this is one of the Life Skills so necessary for one’s emotional well-being. We hope that you will find this information as a starting base for your own journey to understand yourself and others, learning new life skills e.g. coping skills, communication skills, study skills etc. while you are a student at IMU.

Sometimes reading the materials will help one to understand, motivate us to take steps. However, you may wish to contact our counsellors for personal counselling to take you a step further.

Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] drop by to see us at the IMU Student Counselling Unit.

Awareness and Courage

The first step in self-growth is awareness of where we are and what we need. The second is the courage to do something about it. You will also be surprised to find that you are not the only person feeling or behaving the way you do, that I am not “abnormal” after all and it is possible to be overcome.
