The IMU strongly encourages its students to be involved in extra-curricular activities. This is to ensure that the IMU graduates become healthy individuals with varied interests. At the same time, there is a need to ensure that student life in the IMU is safe, comfortable and fun.

IMU Student Association
University students are leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, they should learn to accept and discharge their responsibilities effectively; even as students. The Student Association is an elected body that represents the students and organises activities for the IMU student community. Student Association representatives allow the student body to express their views on matters which affect student life at the University, including academic and examination issues as well as student recreational and accommodation facilities.

Co-curricular Activities
The IMU students form their own societies and clubs to organise various co-curricular activities. These include the Adventure Club, sports clubs, cultural and language clubs, dance and music, photography and so on. An annual IMU event is the mountain trip to Gunung Tahan, the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia.

Other annual events include the orientation of freshies, the IMU Cup, IMU Ball and Friday Night. The orientation allows freshies to feel that their seniors are their friends and that they are welcomed at the IMU. These annual events are important because they foster the spirit of camaraderie within the IMU.

A student lounge is provided on campus for various indoor games such as carom, chess pool and card games as well as for relaxation. There is a fully equipped gymnasium and a dance studio with sound system at the student lounge for use by all students. There is a games room for students to play darts and table-tennis.

Student Counselling
Experienced staff at the Department of Admissions and Student Affairs, and academic staff offer appropriate advice and counsel to potential students and their parents on various aspects of the University. In addition, information on the Partner Medical Schools (PMS) and living abroad are given by trained IMU staff as well as visiting academic staff from the PMS. IMU students can also seek the counsel of IMU academic staff at any time. The tutor-tutee system of the University where specific academicians are mentors to specific students is another mechanism of support for students.

IMU Alumni
Today, our graduates are either pursuing their studies in our Partner Universities in six countries abroad, or working as doctors or pharmacists in Malaysia and overseas. The IMU Alumni is established to ensure easy access and interaction among the IMU family around the globe. Communication is optimised through the IMU Alumni website @ www.imu.org.my for all alumni activities.
