The IMU Counselling Unit functions as a centre to provide emotional support to the students who encounter any personal or academic problem during their stay at IMU. This is a place where students can come and share their problems openly with a counsellor. All the information disclosed in the counselling room will be treated as strictly confidential.

    The Counselling Unit provides the following services:
  • Individual Counselling
    Student will be attended individually and this will normally lead to self-awareness and personal growth. We will also assist the student with coping techniques, interpersonal relationship and adjustment skills.
  • Peer Counselling
    Students will be trained to be a “peer counsellor. They function as a support group to their friends; they also help to identify some crisis cases among the students. Throughout the training, students will learn some basic counselling skills while developing their own personalities.
  • Time Management
    Workshop Students will learn to be more organised and effective in using their time.
  • Study Skills Workshop
    Students will be more aware of their study styles, and will learn to develop their study skills. After the workshop, it is hoped that students would be able to perform better in their studies.
  • Stress Management Workshop
    Students will learn to manage their stress so that they are able to cope with the challenges that they would face during their stay here. This workshop also prepares students for work life after graduation.


The Admission and Student Affairs Department provides a range of services and these include counselling and student welfare. For international students, assistance is provided to help them settle down to life in a new country.
