Prof Ts Dr. Mai Chun Wai, a Professor and Deputy Director, Research Strategy and Innovation for the Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (IRDI), IMU University. He also leads the Centre for Cancer and Stem Cell Research. Prof Mai is proud IMU BPharm (Hons) and PhD alumnus and a respected figure in translational cancer therapeutics, and cell biology, with numerous national and international certifications. Dr. Mai is actively involved in science advocacy, holding key positions in organizations like YSN-ASM, the Malaysian Pharmacists Society, and FIP. His research excellence is underscored by over 30 awards, including the FIP Early Career in Pharmaceutical Science Award and recognition as JCI Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians. He has secured over 60 grants, published over 110 research articles, and focuses on cell biology, tumor immune evasion, and precision health to develop affordable treatments. Dr. Mai is dedicated to mentorship, having supervised numerous students and spearheaded science initiatives.
