Self-Monitoring of Blood Glucose: From Basics to Applications

29 October 2017 – The Department of Life Sciences, School of Pharmacy, IMU conducted a CPD workshop on ‘Self-Monitoring of Blood Glucose – From Basics to Applications’. The CPD was co-organised with the Malaysian Diabetes Educators Society (MDES), the Malaysian Dietitians’ Association (MDA) and the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS).

The CPD attracted over 70 participants, comprising mainly of the Malaysian primary healthcare providers like pharmacists, dietitians and nurses. Experts from different healthcare teams delivered talks and shared their experiences. There was a discussion forum in the second half of the day where real cases were discussed and analysed. Participants were given the opportunity to express their views as well.

The team of experts include A/Prof Rohana Abdul Ghani, Consultant Endocrinologist, MARA Technology University (UiTM); Wong Yoke Lian, Senior Diabetes Educator, MDES; Navin Kumar Loganadan, Clinical Pharmacist, Hospital Putrajaya; Dr Loh Vooi Lee, Consultant Endocrinologist; Dr Tan Ming Yeong, Diabetes Nurse Specialist and Lee Ching Li, Dietitian from IMU Healthcare. The CPD also had the support of two sponsors in Abbott Laboratories (M) Sdn Bhd. and Ascensia Diabetes Care Malaysia, who had booths at the event.
