Hassan Al Zahrani (Saudi Arabia)

Dr Hassan Ali Hassan Alzahrani is a highly accomplished general, endocrine, and metabolic surgery consultant and a dedicated educator at King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Medical Education and is also a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at the university’s College of Medicine. In addition, he holds the role of Secretary-General of the Saudi Society for Medical Education, contributing to national efforts in advancing health professions education.

Dr. Alzahrani earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from King Khalid University in Abha in 2006. He went on to complete multiple prestigious surgical fellowships, including the Saudi and Arab Boards in General Surgery at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, the MRCS and FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and an Endocrine and Metabolic Surgery Fellowship at Tulane University in Louisiana, USA. He further enhanced his academic credentials by obtaining a Master of Science in Health Professions Education from the University of Rochester, New York, in 2019.

With a strong passion for education and community engagement, Dr. Alzahrani has been instrumental in developing postgraduate training programs under the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and has introduced innovative teaching strategies utilizing modern technologies. His work bridges clinical expertise and educational leadership, aiming to improve both surgical training and patient outcomes.

Dr. Alzahrani also actively engages with the community through public health education, scientific seminars, and outreach activities, including initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. His vision combines medical excellence with a commitment to societal well-being and educational advancement.

He also served as Secretary General of the Saudi Society for Medical Education (SSME) and is currently the president of the SSME.
