Dr Sarah Khalid, MBBS, MPhil (Anatomy), MME, is a seasoned medical educator and academic leader, currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at Shalamar Medical and Dental College, Lahore. With over two decades of experience in medical education, Dr Khalid has established herself as a committed educator, curriculum developer, and faculty mentor.
She began her medical education at Nishtar Medical College, Multan, and initiated her teaching career at Fatima Memorial College of Medicine and Dentistry, where she progressed from Demonstrator to Associate Professor. She earned her MPhil in Anatomy from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, followed by a Master’s in Medical Education, alongside advanced certifications in distance learning, assessment, and health professions education.
Dr Khalid's academic interests lie in faculty development, embryology, and innovative teaching methodologies. She is known for incorporating simulation models, 3D learning tools, and technology-driven strategies into anatomy education, making complex concepts more accessible for students. Her embryology research addresses congenital anomalies, histogenesis, and the molecular basis of early human development, linking basic science to clinical relevance.
As Chair of the CPD Organizing Committee at SMDC, Dr Khalid has led numerous faculty development initiatives and international multidisciplinary conferences, significantly contributing to professional development and academic excellence. She is actively involved in curriculum planning, training programs, and quality enhancement initiatives within medical education. Her dedication to continuous improvement, innovation, and scholarly engagement continues to inspire colleagues and learners alike, making her a valued leader in the medical education community.
