Dr Usman Mahboob is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Professions Education & Research, Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, Pakistan. He is also Project Advisor at the International FAIMER Institute, Philadelphia, USA for the fellowship programme. Moreover, he has been a supervisor for the doctorate programme at Maastricht University, Netherlands and the master’s programme at the University of Dundee, UK.

He has published 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has also authored a book chapter on data collection instruments and facilitated up to 50 workshops in medical education and research. Under his supervision, more than 100 students have completed master’s degrees, and one student has completed a doctorate over the last eight years. He is an avid researcher and has been a Principal and co-investigator for nationally and internationally funded projects and has won grants of more than nine million pounds. He is also the Associate Editor for BMC Medical Education. He has developed more than ten undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in health sciences and the accreditation system for the country.

His main research interests are medical professionalism, cultural variations, assessment, auditing and blueprinting curriculum for quality assurance and enhancement, educational philosophy, educational research, and facilitating faculty development programmes.
