Professor Wagdy Talaat is a distinguished leader in medical education and health professions training. He is the Founding Head of the Medical Education Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, and serves as a Global Faculty member at the International FAIMER Institute in Philadelphia, USA. He also holds the position of Founding Director of the Joint Master of Health Professions Education program, a collaborative initiative between Maastricht University and Suez Canal University.

Professor Talaat currently serves as the President of the Egyptian Society for Medical Education and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Health Professions Education and Innovation. With over three decades of experience as a WHO Consultant in health manpower development, he has played a key role in regional and international accreditation initiatives, notably serving as WHO Accreditation Project Director in Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean Region since 2003.

He is the author of four WHO publications in medical education, including the global reference Community-Based Education in Health Professions: Global Perspectives. In recognition of his leadership, he received the Leadership and Management International Award from Management Sciences for Health (MSH), USA, in 2010.
