Students will be embedded within a unique, diverse, collaborative, interdisciplinary ecosystem integrating highly experienced faculty and leaders in the industry as guest lecturers, and they will be exposed to a rich training ground for the next generation of health IT specialist and data scientists.
Entry Requirements
Academic Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment
- A Bachelor’s degree in Non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that are equivalent to their working experience in the Computing or related fields; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in Non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to appropriate prerequisite courses;
Additional Criteria:
- Students without statistical background must take “Statistics Thinking for Health Analytics” (Semester 1)
- Students without computing background must take “Introduction to Computer Science and Programming” (Semester 1)

- IELTS : Band score 6.0; or
- TOEFL iBT : Overall score of 60 / Scale score of 4.0; or

- Cambridge English : Advanced (CAE) : Overall score of 169; or

- Cambridge Linguaskill : Overall score of 169; or
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) : Overall score of 59;

The following categories of students are exempted from the above requirements:
- International students from countries in which English is the first language.
- International students who graduated from any Malaysian or other institutions where the curriculum is delivered in English.

This programme has been designed to suit the needs of future health IT specialists and data scientists, enabling them to perform analyses and develop novel tools and methods for this rapidly growing field. It is aimed at students with diverse backgrounds, not limited to science related fields. Students will learn about the breadth of the fields of health informatics and analytics. They will be able to design, perform and enhance analyses with the appropriate methods and technologies to address practical medical and clinical questions. The Master in Health Informatics and Analytics leverages on the university teaching staff diversity – including computer science and informatics, biomedical, clinical and health sciences – alongside that of external industrial partners. This will deliver training across the breadth of health informatics and analytics from health informatics, epidemiology, clinical systems and bioinformatics.
