A Plan to Manage Diabetes

More than 17% of adults in Malaysia are living with Type 2 diabetes mellitus, with obesity as a major contributing factor. Diabetes patients are often recommended to make significant lifestyle changes, particularly in diet and exercise to manage their condition. Dean, School of Health Sciences, IMU, Prof Winnie Chee Siew Swee, said, “In managing diabetes, diet intervention aims to achieve a target weight loss of 5 to 10 percent in six months and reduce total calorie intake by incorporating meal replacements.” Learn more about how this can be done at A Plan to Manage Diabetes (New Straits Times, 12 June 2018).
