Gaining Valuable Experience Via IMU’s Student Ambassador Programme

24 May 2016

IMU Pharmacy student, Tan Yan Ting, joined the University’s Student Ambassador (SA) programme in 2015. Since then, she has gained a number of valuable experiences in this programme. She relates to us her experiences here. Yan Ting “Throughout my year-long journey as part of the SA programme, I had the opportunity to explore opportunities that might not have been available to other students. For instance, the Global Transformation Forum and Nilai University Future Leadership Camp which had expanded my social network, and widened my perspective towards global issues. Nilai Future Leadership Camp 2015 Furthermore, the workshops conducted, and the projects or events that we were assigned to had undoubtedly boosted my self-confidence, improved my communication skills and also leadership skills. One of the workshops, the Grooming and Dynamic Workshop had taught me to be more conscious in taking care of my appearance, speech and body language to give a good impression when meeting new people. Not forgetting the fellow Student Ambassadors whom we had created wonderful memories together. It was my pleasure to know and work with them, students who are from various programmes at IMU whom we seldom meet before joining this programme. Through the events and activities I learned to be more flexible working with different people with different working styles.

Overall, it was a great experience to be part of the programme for the past one year. This programme definitely gave me a valuable lesson that I would not get in the classroom or from a textbook- it helped me grow in so many aspects to become a successful healthcare professional in the future.”
