IMU Lecturer and Students Excelled at 34th Nutrition Society Malaysia Conference

3 -4 July 2019 – IMU faculty and students won several awards at the 34th Nutrition Society Malaysia Conference at Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur. The Conference with the theme “Healthy Nutrition: Key to Disease Prevention” was attended by over 1000 participants and officiated by YBhg Dato’ Seri Chen Chaw Min, Secretary-General, Ministry of Health Malaysia. The awards won at this conference were:

Kanimolli Arasu (IMU faculty and PhD candidate) 3rd prize for Young Investigator Awards Oral presentation entitled “Are Malaysian Children with Low Calcium Intake have Low Bone Mass?” Prof Winnie Chee, Dean, School of Health Sciences and Dr Meenal Mavinkurve, pediatrician and lecturer in IMU

Kanimolli Arasu’s presentation provided some insight on the bone health of prepubertal Malaysian children with habitual low calcium intake and the factors that affect the children’s bone at this age. She expressed her delight in winning the award as this is the very first time she presented the baseline data on her PhD work in IMU.
