Learning from Experts: Masterclass in Labour Ward Management and Mock MRCOG Part 2 Exam

This year (2021), due to the restrictions imposed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the IMU Postgraduate Education Training (PGet) Part 2 Prep Exam course was organised as an online CPD  on 19 & 20 June 2021 with the title “Masterclass in Labour Ward Management and Mock MRCOG Part 2 Exam”.

The 2-day course was delivered via the Zoom platform with the intended learning outcomes to include understanding the standard of the required knowledge and learning the key aspects of the curriculum required for preparation of MRCOG Part 2 Exam. The participants had the opportunity to have an update knowledge of essential practical obstetric skills in the labour ward management and how to apply rational principles of auscultation to ensure effective monitoring of low and high-risk pregnancies. There was an understanding on clinical governance and risk management in relation to obstetrics. Besides this, the participants who are sitting for MRCOG part 2 exam gained familiarity with the format of the part 2 MRCOG written papers.

There were total of 49 participants, mainly Medical Officers of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Ministry of Health and University Hospitals around Malaysia. Fortunately, there were no technical difficulties encountered during the course as the participants had a stable internet connectivity throughout the course.

Day 1
Lectures were delivered by experts in on the topic of Labour Ward Management which is one of the core modules of the MRCOG syllabus. It was an interactive session with poll questions at the end of each topic. The participants also had the opportunity to discuss a wide range of questions with these experts.
Day 2
Day 2 was a mock exam with two papers similar to the main exam, a hands-opportunity for the participants to experience the ambiance of a real exam. Following the mock exam was a detailed feedback session on questions of the exam.

Participants of this CPD were entitled 8 CPD points.
