The School organised a series of live talks on the learning experiences, professions, local and international opportunities of pharmacists and pharmaceutical chemists.   • Pharmacy Week & Pharmaceutical Chemistry Week
The School is organising Pharmacy Week and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Week annually since 2019 with the aims of providing a professional identity development platform for Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry students to develop their professionalism, leadership, interpersonal and organisation skills. Professional bodies and relevant organisations are invited to be the event collaborators. Industry experts, academician and alumni working in the industries are invited to deliver expert sharing, webinars and workshops during the event week.

  • Dramatisation
In IMU BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme, physical dramatisation has been utilised for ethics education to demonstrate effective communication in creating awareness about the ethical issues in scientific research. In this dramatisation, the students are required to explore the ethical dilemmas and arguments that have appeared under the laboratory setting. In particular, their production should explore the incidents that have shaped the development of science(s). The dramatisation presentation will be assessed by the faculty and the teamwork will also be assessed using peer assessment.
  • IKM Graduate Chemistry Awards
The IMU BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry is recognised by the Institut Kimia (IKM). Graduates are eligible to register with IKM to become a Registered Chemist with the title of ChM. The IMU BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry graduates is invited for the annual IKM Graduate Chemistry Awards nominations. The recipients are selected based on best performance in chemistry final year examination in any branch of chemistry discipline.

Achievements

  • IMU’s Pharmacy Alumni Team Won Award for Community Project
27-November 2015 – A team comprising of IMU’s pharmacy alumni won the PhAMA President’s Community Impact & Awareness Award 2015 for their community project in conducting a deworming programme for children in an Orang Asli village at Kampung Ulu Tual, Kuala Lipis. The award was announced and presented to the winning team at the Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia (PhAMA) Annual Dinner, witnessed by the Minister of Health, YB Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam.   • Pharmacy Alumni awarded MPS-YPC Most Outstanding and Most Creative Committee 2016
The Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society Young Pharmacist Chapter (MPS-YPC) is a prominent chapter under the umbrella of Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society. It was set up with the aim to bring young pharmacists together in shaping the future of healthcare. Assuming the key role in MPS’ quest to advance pharmacy practice in Malaysia, MPS-YPC actively engages young pharmacists through a series of talks, conferences and dialogues pertaining to the latest updates and trends in the industry. It is deemed as the perfect platform to reach out to passionate young pharmacists.   The 2 winners are Cedric Chua, a BP1/11 IMU-Queensland Bachelor of Pharmacy Alumnus and Erin Ooi, a BP1/12 IMU Bachelor of Pharmacy Alumnus.
