Beijing University of Chinese Medicine ( 北京中医药大学 )
Founded in 1956, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) is one of the earliest established universities of Chinese Medicine since the foundation of Peoples Republic of China. It has become a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the only TCM university to be preferentially invested and supported by the state.
The University publishes state-level, first-class academic journals such as Journal of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Journal of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (Clinical Edition) and Traditional Chinese Medicine Education. They are important platforms for TCM academic exchanges. The University now has six state-level research projects, ten ministerial/provincial research projects, and three Beijing municipality-level projects.
Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine ( 广州中医药大学 )
Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (GZHUTCM), now Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GZHUCM), established in 1956, is one of the four oldest TCM institutes of higher education in China. It was originally administered by the Ministry of Health and the State Administration of TCM, and is one of the first educational institutes approved to award master’s and doctor’s degree in China. In October 1998, the university was listed as a key university by central and provincial government for developing its key disciplines within national “211 Program” (a programme launched by Chinese Ministry of Education and aiming to establish about 100 internationally well-known Chinese universities in the 21st century) during the period of China national “ninth five-year plan”. In the same year, the university became one of the first national postgraduate clinical medicine degree tentative universities. In 2000, the university became an institute governed jointly by State Administration of TCM of People’s Republic of China and Guangdong Provincial government, mainly by Guangdong provincial government.
Shangdong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine ( 山东中医药大学 )
Shangdong University of TCM founded in 1958, formerly Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of the provincial key universities and one of the seven TCM universities among the nearly 30 TCM higher-learning institutions in China.
With TCM disciplines as the maim body in tune with the development of the other disciplines, the university has formed a scientific academic structure. At present, the university has 13 schools and 2 departments; 2 state key specialties, 2 post-doctoral mobile stations, 15 doctoral specialties, 26 master’s specialties and 20 undergraduate specialties oriented at 36 disciplines.
The university has formulated a scientific teaching system in clinical practicing. It has 2 affiliated hospitals, 7 unaffiliated hospitals and 97 teaching and practicing bases. Established in July,1955, The First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is recognized as a state’s exemplary TCM hospital. Through 50-year development, it has become a modern comprehensive hospital, the top TCM hospital in Shandong Province, with emphasis on medical care, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care and rehabilitation.
Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine ( 上海中医药大学 )
Shanghai University of TCM, founded in 1956, is one of the firstly established four Colleges and Universities of TCM after the People’s Republic of China has founded. The University is located in Scientific Research and Education Zone, ZhangJiang High-tech Park, Pudong New Area. The campus which occupies 500 units of area has beautiful environment and complete instructional facilities such as teaching buildings, experiment buildings, library building, administration building, external affairs building, gymnasium and museum.
Shanghai University of TCM and Shanghai Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine which is one of the seven academies of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China share the same ground and stuff. The university now has 3 key academic disciplines of Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, i.e. Surgery of TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicinal Materials and Internal Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1 key laboratory of Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, 4 key academic disciplines construction units of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China, 7 Shanghai key academic disciplines, 2 Shanghai E- Academies of universities, 3 key academic disciplines of Shanghai Education Committee 4th phase key academic disciplines, 1 Shanghai key laboratory and 14 third-class laboratories.
