IMU, IMC Signed with Kazakhstan Medical Institutions to Further Training and Education Development

Kuala Lumpur, 23 July 2018 – The International Medical University (IMU) together with the International Medical College (IMC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the renowned Kazakh National Medical University (KNMU), LLP Kazakhstan’s Medical University’s Kazakhstan School of Public Health (KSPH) and LLP Education Clinical Center to grant opportunities in advancement of academic knowledge, training and professional development to potential students of their university and centre. In addition, all five parties have mutually agreed to exchange technologies in medical and allied health fields. The agreement also aims to establish collaborations towards having short courses by IMU’s and IMC’s professionals at KMU in areas of management of hospital, risk management, related financial and human resources management, nursing and other relevant clinical areas.

The MoU was signed by Prof Abdul Aziz Baba, Vice Chancellor of IMU, Ms Christy Chiu Lai Heng, Chief Executive Officer of IMC, Mr Senbekov Maksut, Executive Vice-Rector of KMU, Ms Mussina R.R., Director General of LLP “Educational Clinical Center”, and Ms G. Tokmurzieva, Rector of LLP Kazakhstan’s Medical University, KSPH, today at IMU’s campus in Bukit Jalil. This collaboration marks the beginning of a relationship between all parties and the two countries towards nurturing and developing the next generation of healthcare professionals as well as promote and develop the various interests of the parties involved.

Prof Abdul Aziz Baba, Vice Chancellor of IMU, said in his speech, “The MoU helps position all parties to collaborate and enhance each institution’s core competencies in education and research. The opportunities for staff and student exchanges between the institutions will further add value to learning experiences of staff and students. IMU and IMC view this as an important partnership with a Central Asian country.”

This formal agreement forms part of IMU’s focus on creating a name for itself as a change-maker in the field of medicine. Being able to share expertise with other key players in the same industry defines its commitment to excellence and represents IMU’s reputation as a high-caliber institution. “We value this opportunity highly not only for our universities and students but for our country as a whole. With greater training and professional development from global partners like IMU and IMC, our educators’ knowledge and healthcare specialists’ skills will be enhanced, thus providing improved clinical services to our people,” said Ms. G. Tokmurzieva of KSPH. “We believe that it also serves Kazakhstan, some Central Asian countries and medical societies with whom we collaborate closely with,” she added. “Furthermore, it is an agreement which open doors for skills and knowledge sharing from these Asian countries to better treat patients and help elevate the country’s overall healthcare standards.”

International Medical University

International Medical College
IMC is a private college with long-standing reputation for providing nursing education, recognised locally and internationally. Since inception in 1993, it had assumed the responsibility to train and develop a new generation of nurses and allied health professionals. IMC is located strategically at Subang Jaya, Selangor, and its branch campus is at Ayer Keroh, Malacca. Kazakh National Medical University
Kazakh National Medical University (KNMU) is a university in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is the No.1 medical institute in the country. The university was dedicated to S.D. Asfendiyarov, the first rector when the university was established in 1931. In 2001, the government classified it as a “national” university. There are over 1,500 faculty members working at KNMU, including more than 200 doctors of science, 130 professors, more than 500 candidates of science and 15-laureates of State prizes.

KMU’s Kazakhstan School of Public Health, KSPH
Kazakhstan School of Public Health (KSPH) was established in Almaty according to the Agreement between European Regional Bureau of WHO and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 18 October 1996. The School of Public Health was renamed to High School of Public Health (HSPH) in 18 November 2000. The School was established to train and retrain public health specialists, and also to provide advanced training to chiefs of healthcare organisations.

Educational Clinical Centre – Astana
This centre was established by the mayor’s office of Astana in partnership with the medical corporation. “Partners Health Care System” (Boston, USA) is a clinical base of Harvard Medical School. It has more than 10 years experience in education and holds awards of “The Educational Pride 2018”, “The Market Leader 2013-2016”, “The Best Enterprise Of 2016” and “The Leader Of The Year 2017’. It has successfully taught over 30,000 medical and non medical professionals all over the Republic of Kazakhstan.
