Dietetics Students Make IMU Proud at MDA National Conference

20-21 June 2014 – Two Bachelor of Science (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics students from the IMU have done their University proud by winning prizes recently at the recent 20th Malaysian Dietitians’ Association (MDA) National Conference. Final year student, Ms Lim Hui Hui won the Best Clinical Case Presentation Competition while another student, Lee Zhi Yee, won 3rd Prize in the Poster Competition in the same conference. Lim Hui Hui’s presented on the management of chronic kidney disease patient during her final year practical training. She shared her experiences in providing diet therapy and how it has benefitted the patient in slowing down progression of his kidney failure. Hui Hui

Commenting on her win, Lim Hui Hui said “Words are not enough for me to express my joy for winning the competition at the MDA national conference and making IMU proud. I felt so thankful to IMU and all the lecturers for the guidance, endless support and encouragement for making me stand tall and becoming who I am today!”

Lee Zhi Yee’s poster presentation was on a research study she undertook on how eating carbohydrate foods such as rice and sugar affect glucose and cholesterol levels of Malaysian adults.

Dietetics 2 The 20th Malaysian Dietitians’ Association National Conference was held on 20-21 June 2014 at Double Tree by Hilton in Kuala Lumpur. The theme of the conference – “Professionalism, Competency, Visibility and Breakthrough” was chosen to reflect the directions MDA’s Strategic Plans for the next 5 years.
