27 July 2016 – IMU‘s School of Dentistry Semester 10 dentistry student, Athena Tan Yen Yee won the Best Poster Award at the 11th Asia-Pacific Congress on Dental and Oral Health held in Bangkok, Thailand. Athena Tan was the only undergraduate student amongst dentists and postgraduate students who competed in the oral and poster presentations. She presented her research work entitled “Formulation, Development and In vitro Evaluation of bio Adhesive Gels Loaded with Triamcinolone Acetonide for the Treatment of Oral Ulcers” which she had carried out for the past year under her supervisors Dr Thiagarajan Madheswaran (School of Pharmacy), Prof Khoo Suan Phaik (School of Dentistry) and Prof Allan Coombs (School of Pharmacy). Yen Yee also came up tops at the Malaysian International Dental Exhibition & Conference (MIDEC) 2016 in PWTC when she was awarded with the Best Poster.
