Clinical School Seremban Students Raise Funds for IMU Chariofare 2018

04 Nov 2018

In conjunction with IMU Chariofare 2018, IMU Mind Matters Club in collaboration with IMU Cares organised a fundraising event from 12 September 2018 to 14 September 2018. This fundraising event, conducted via a fruit juice sale, was an effort to support and raise funds for charity under the Chariofare event by IMU Cares. IMU CARES

Prior to the event, a meeting was conducted with Dr Raja Selvi and Nancy who were in-charge of the event. It was to discuss the preparations and course of the sale. For three continuous days, a booth was set up at the foyer in IMU Clinical Campus Seremban starting from 12 pm to 2 pm. It was manned by volunteers among IMU medical students with supervision from the committee members of IMU Mind Matters Club. An average of 3 volunteers were present at the booth every day.

Fruits and vegetables such as carrots, apples, oranges, guava and watermelon were bought one to two days prior to the event. They were freshly blended based on demands of the customers, the majority of which, were students. For ease, the fruit juices were served in disposable cups with lids and straws which were sponsored by IMU Cares. They were sold for RM 3 to RM 6 per cup depending on their choice of a single fruit or mixed fruits. All ingredients and appliances used in the fruit juice making process were sponsored and borrowed from the IMU Clinical Campus Faculty of Psychiatry. The event managed to raise a total of RM 641.00. even though there were many challenges to be overcome throughout the event. The main challenge faced throughout this event was time management. On top of that, the volunteers and committee members were also confronted with some difficulties preparing the booth on the first day. However, the event became more smooth-sailing as they were more familiar with the flow. All proceeds from this event were handed over to the Chariofare Fund. The event had met its objectives with the hope that the funds raised, could be suitably used as an aid and support for charitable purposes.
