Finding Opportunities in Healthcare Careers at IMU Student Exploratory Workshops

4 – 6 December 2017 – More than 150 high school and pre-university students converge at International Medical University (IMU)’s campus in Bukit Jalil for the University’s exploratory workshops. The first workshop “Intro to Medicine & Health Sciences” was from 4-5 December 2017 while the other workshop “Intro to Medicine” was from 6 December 2017. The fun and interactive workshops on 4-5 December 2017, was packed with hands-on activities and talks. It provided participants with the opportunity to gain exposure and explore possible career opportunities in medicine and health sciences while experiencing the student life in an international medical university. The students were guided on the activities by workshop facilitators, comprising IMU lecturers and faculty members at the University’s various facilities such as the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, Dental Skills Centre, Medical Museum, Research Lab and Multidisciplinary Lab. IMU also provided a unique opportunity for students to experience a day in the life of a medical student, through the Intro to Medicine Workshop on 6 December. At this one-day workshop, students gained fascinating insights into the world of medicine, including hands-on activities and training in doctor-patient communication, learning about pulse and blood pressure taking, ECG examination, chest X-ray reading and more. The students had  a fantastic time with these interesting and exciting activities which had gave them a clearer picture on what medical and health sciences are all about.
