Pavitra Sinnasamy: Learning through Uncertainty as a Dietetics with Nutrition Degree Student

17 Nov 2023

Pursuing a degree in Dietetics with Nutrition at IMU has been truly enriching and filled with incredible memories and opportunities for personal growth. Adapting to distance learning as a first-year student, due to movement restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, posed a significant challenge. This became one of the primary dilemmas I faced during this phase of my education.

The consistent encouragement, support, and feedback from my lecturers over the past four years made learning possible in every way and helped me to get through my degree. I am immensely grateful for the efforts of the professors and university staff. I must say that pursuing a degree in dietetics here is one of the best decisions I have taken for my career.

What Am I Doing Now?

After a two-month break, I’ve started my job search and am looking forward to a new career as a registered dietitian.

I plan to pursue an opportunity to optimise my skills and build a solid foundation in the field of dietetics in hopes that I can contribute to the nutritional healthcare industry. And probably in the next 2 years, I plan to continue my master’s degree programme in dietetics to advance myself professionally.

Advice to Future Students

All of you are all undoubtedly putting up a lot of effort in your unique ways and striving to reach your goals. If I had to offer one piece of advice, it would probably be to strive for progression rather than perfection. This is something I have kept reminding myself that every step I take to reach my goal is an accomplishment for me throughout these years. I wish you guys all the very best.
