SMK Seri Bintang Utara Emerged Champions of IMU Health Olympiad

IMU CARES 23 May 2015 – SMK Seri Bintang Utara emerged as champions of a Health Olympiad organised by International Medical University (IMU) Community Service Club in collaboration with IMU Cares. This inaugural Health Olympiad for the secondary school students is a quiz on medical related questions such as on HIV, Ebola and Dengue. The winning school received a cash price of RM1,000. SMJK Confucian Kuala Lumpur and SMA Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan took the second and third place respectively. The main purpose of this event was to increase the awareness of these diseases and epidemics among school kids as well as to build their interest in the medical field. The competition was well-received by the schools around Kuala Lumpur and IMU staff. Participating schools were SMA Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan, SMK Seri Permaisuri, SMK Bandar Baru Sentul, SMK Confucian, SMK Raja Ali, SMK Seri Bintang Utara, and SMK Segambut. Prof Ong Kok Hai, Director of External Affairs IMU was the honorary guest who officiated the event. Several other staff members which includes Club Advisor, A/Prof Ranjit De Alwis also attended the event.

IMU Cares will be organising this event annually and with this success, it is hoped that there will be more schools and volunteers participating in next year’s event.
