05 Jun 2014

18 May 2014IMU School of Pharmacy and Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society-Young Pharmacist Chapter (MPS-YPC) contributed to the FreeMarket group at MCOBA Building by providing free health screening activities. This is one of the FreeMarket activities in the Klang Valley as a Gift Economy Initiative where people give away things to people who needs those things. Volunteers for this event are mostly IMU graduating Semester 8 pharmacy students, IMU School of Pharmacy staff , and IMU pharmacy alumni who are also MPS-YPC active committee members. Medical doctors who support MPS-YPC in charity events, also volunteered in this meaningful event.

For this event, the School of Pharmacy and MPS-YPC provided free blood pressure monitoring, free glucose monitoring, body mass calculation, medication and lifestyle modification counselling. A total of 85 members of the public participated in these health screening activities. We have also distributed more than 135 sets of healthcare related brochures to raise public awareness about medication and their health conditions.
