IMU’s Dean, School of Health Sciences elected as Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia

27 April 2013 – IMU is very proud to announce that its Dean, School of Health Sciences, Prof Khor Geok Lin was officially elected and endorsed as a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia at the 18th Annual General Assembly of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. This is in recognition of her excellent contributions to medical and health sciences and is indeed a great honour not only to her but also to the University. The Academy of Sciences Malaysia was established in 1995 as an independent body with strong government links to ensure the effective implementation of its plans and activities. The Academy is committed to provide professional, quality, efficient and friendly service to its clients in pursuit of excellence in science, engineering, and technology Prof Khor obtained her first degree in McGill University, Montreal and later pursued her MSc and PhD in Human Nutrition and Community Nutrition respectively. Her research interests are in Public Health Nutrition, Community Nutrition and Micronutrients in Maternal and Child Health and she has received grants to work in these areas of her research. Prof Khor has published extensively in both international and regional journals and contributed to book chapters in nutrition. She has also received numerous academic awards including the Takemi Fellowship and Fulbright Scholarship, Harvard School of Public Health; Association of Commonwealth Universities Development Fellowship, Monash University, Clayton, Australia; Association of Southeast Asian Institutions for Higher Learning Fellowship, Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand; and the Asia Pacific Clinical Nutrition Society (APCNS) Award. Prof Khor is currently the Dean, School of Health Sciences which delivers programmes such as Nursing, Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, Dietetics with Nutrition, Nutrition, Psychology, Medical Biotechnology and Biomedical Science Congratulations to Prof Khor for this significant recognition and her contributions as one of the  top notch highly respected professionals in IMU’s Faculty.
