Reconnecting and Bringing Back Memories at Kuching Alumni Gathering

08 May 2019

“I meet people and they become chapters in my stories”, said Avijeet Das, a poet and a writer from India.

A new chapter for Alumni Relations Office (ARO) began as we traveled 978 kilometers to meet up with our alumni in Kuching, Sarawak. This gathering on 23 March was one of the first gatherings for 2019 following the success of a series of Alumni Gatherings which started in 2016. Kuching was selected due to the large number of alumni residing and working there. The evening started at 6pm when a number of alumni started to trickle in to the venue of the gathering at Waterfront Hotel, Kuching. “It was very nice of Alumni Relations Office (ARO) to come and visit us. I really appreciate that”, said Bryan Lim, a Psychology alumni said. The gathering was well received and many alumni praised the Alumni Relations Office (ARO)’s efforts. They were happy to see their lecturers and deans at the gathering and the feelings were mutual. It was good to see them excel in their work and most importantly, during the meeting they spoke freely on the strength and weakness of the IMU training”. Even though the gathering ended at 10pm, the networking continued with many photos snapped and memories made.

Alumni Relations Office (ARO) would like to thank the lecturers and deans for joining us with a special thanks to Puan Noraidah Yusoff, IMU Registrar for consistently giving us support. The Alumni Gathering series will continue in July 2019 in Johor Bahru.
