A Workshop to Cultivate Bio Entrepreneurship

25-26 August 2016 – A Bioentrepreneurship Workshop 2016: Biomarket Transfer was jointly organised by Applied Biomedical Science and Biotechnology Division (ABSB), School of Health Sciences, International Medical University (IMU) and Malaysian Bioeconomy Corporation Sdn Bhd. The workshop was held at the University’s campus in Bukit Jalil and was attended by 16 participants, who are academicians and postgraduate students from IMU and outside of IMU. Objectives of this workshop were to bridge the gap between life sciences / academia and industry and to cultivate bio entrepreneurship among bio-based undergraduates, postgraduates, academicians, researchers. IMU ICL FC logo-FINAL Mdm Zurina Che Dir (Senior Vice President, University Industry Partnership of Bioeconomy Corp), Mr Zulkifli Badarudin (Vice President, Corporate Finance and Funding of Bioeconomy Corp), Prof Ong Kok Hai (Director of External Affairs, IMU), Mr Peter Ong (Vice-President, ICSMEE) and Mr Redzuan Ali (Director Intellectual Property Academy) are among the prestigious speakers at the workshop. All topics covered  and the group activities enriched the participants with the essential and current knowledge that bridge the gap between research and commercialisation. All the participants stated that the workshop was very informative and strengthened their knowledge on bio entrepreneurship, and helps them to design a research that leads to commercialisation.
