21 Oct 2019

Kuala Lumpur, 15 October 2019 – The International Medical University (IMU) is a university wholly specialising in medicine, health sciences and complementary and alternative medicine programmes with over 3,500 students. IMU is also part of IHH Healthcare group which is Asia’s largest private healthcare group. Going beyond the academic, IMU partners with BookDoc to elevate the health and well-being of its community through exchange of knowledge, research and empowering individuals to take charge of their health.

“We are very happy to work with IMU moving forward as a part of sharing economy. Sharing economy is not limited to sharing itself but also sharing on knowledge and on partnerships.” said BookDoc’s founder and CEO, Dato’ Chevy Beh.

BookDoc, with presence in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Thailand, is an online platform that operates across the healthcare continuum connecting and uniting people to healthcare professionals anytime and anywhere, while incentivising all to stay active with over 100 reward partners. BookDoc’s tele-consult platform provides a second opinion to users from specialist in child, skin, mental, women, and sexual health along with up-to-date health-related events and news.

BookDoc and IMU will be collaborating in the following areas:
• Research and publications on data available in the BookDoc system, or any other new research;
• Utilising BookDoc to support monitoring of Komuniti Sihat Pembina Negara (KOSPEN) plus activities; and
• Attachment programmes for students, to be exposed to business aspects and entrepreneurship.

The collaboration will also see BookDoc as an additional platform to promote IMU’s activities such as the IMU Chariofare – annual charity run and carnival, blood donation drive, IMU Healthcare, etc., dedicated to either IMU community, specific target groups or general public for purposes of enhancing student experience, amongst others. IMU adopts outcome-based curricula for all its programmes. This means that all graduates of IMU fulfil all the desired outcomes expected of him or her in the programme. These outcomes are designed to ensure that the graduate is ready for the workplace. “The use of health apps has increasingly become part of our daily life. With the access to useful health information, we are able to track, record and monitor our health conditions. These data allow us to predict, manage and encourage healthier lifestyles. As an innovative global centre of excellence in learning and research, I am excited to see how our IMU community can benefit from not only using the platform to maintain a healthy lifestyle but to also contribute and provide credible resources to enhance the overall healthcare experience with BookDoc,” said Prof Abdul Aziz Baba, Vice-Chancellor of IMU. BookDoc has recently partnered with Special Olympics to monitor their athletes in Asia Pacific countries and continues to offer this healthcare platform to other organisations both locally and internationally. In addition, BookDoc It has also recently tied up with Petron (over 600 outlets nationwide) to reward users for staying active.
