Beginning of a New Chapter in IMU: The Establishment of IMU Alumni Pharmacy Chapter

IMU School of Pharmacy and IMU Alumni Association are proud to add a new “chapter” to the institution by establishing an IMU Alumni Pharmacy Chapter. IMU School of Pharmacy followed the footsteps of the School of Dentistry which previously established a Dentistry Chapter in 2019. IMU Alumni Association, assisted by Alumni Relations Office (ARO) made an announcement in late July, announcing the need to establish a chapter and to unite IMU pharmacy alumni under one network. The announcement was well received and once the nominations period began, the office received a number of nominations submitted by the alumni. In total, 7 candidates were shortlisted and polling period started immediately. Facebook was chosen as a medium for the alumni to vote and elect the committee member. The results were announced a week after on the same platform.

Designation Name Short Description
 Chairman Boris Ting Boris Ting, from the cohort BP2/15 was elected the Chairman of the Alumni Chapter. Currently undergoing his Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP), Boris is confident in laying the foundation and building the name of IMU Alumni Pharmacy Chapter. Throughout his student life, Boris has been active in a few societies campaign, such as Public Health Campaign in Smoking Prevention, Women’s Health Awareness and also joined the IMU Entrepreneur Club Forum. While waiting for his graduation in 2019, he also worked as a part-timer at the Student Services Hub, IMU.
 Vice Chairman Wong Zheng Wei Research Scientist and a PhD candidate, Wong Zheng Wei, PC1/13 who was elected the Vice Chairman believed that by joining the Chapter, he would be able to contribute back to the institution. Zheng Wei believed that this is the best chance for him to bridge the gap between the alumni and the current students.
 Secretary Taasjir Kaur Taasjir Kaur, BP2/15 is no stranger to spotlight and her experience throughout her studies are remarkable. In 2019, she was awarded Top 15 in IMU Aflame Award, among many other achievements. Taasjir was one of Top 5 speakers in 5th MyPSA National Pharmacy Debate Competition and was also an Entrepreneurship Officer of Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association. Now, adding a Secretary post for the Chapter to her portfolio, Taasjir is eager to gain as much as experience as she could.
 Treasurer Low Jun Sheng Low Jun Sheng was elected as the Treasurer. Jun Sheng, from Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme was looking forward to begin his new role. He is currently pursuing his career as a full-time research assistant whilst completing his Master of Science (MSc) in Medical and Health S  ciences in IMU.

A/Prof Zulkefeli Mat Jusoh expressed his excitement and look forward to working with the members of the Pharmacy Alumni Chapter.
